This bustling eatery and live music bar serves up an eclectic menu designed to delight your taste buds from brunch through dinner, all within a lively yet cozy atmosphere that perfectly complements its diverse culinary offerings.
The menu is a treasure trove of robust flavors and thoughtfully crafted dishes. Start with indulgent bites like the Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket—a rich, savory morsel that sets the tone—or the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue, where the warm, melty cheese embraces the pillowy pretzels in pure comfort. Lovers of elevated pub fare will be drawn to the Beer Battered Fish & Chips, which boasts a crisp exterior and flaky tender fish, or the beautifully balanced Steak Frites, a perfect marriage of juicy, char-grilled steak and golden fries.
One dish that garners enthusiastic praise is the Chicken Crispy Katsu sandwich. Its crunch and juiciness offer an irresistibly satisfying bite, as noted by diners who can't get enough of the perfectly crisp breading paired with tender chicken. For those craving something lighter but still packed with flavor, the Cobb Salad is fresh, vibrant, and generously portioned.
The culinary creativity extends to brunch favorites too, where the Banana Bread French Toast makes for a sweet start to the day, and the White Truffle Deviled Eggs reflect the chef’s flair for elevating classics—though some guests have remarked on the saltiness, it remains a uniquely rich option. The BBQ Pork Belly Nachos and Crispy Brussels Sprouts offer great sharable plates, perfect for pairing with one of their curated cocktails like the zesty Guava Pineapple Mimosa or the bold Giddy Up Espresso Martini.
The atmosphere at Culinary Dropout is dynamic and inviting, punctuated by a generous rooftop area that sets the perfect scene for afternoon brunches or relaxing evening drinks. Live music evenings add a delightful ambiance, featuring talented performers that create an intimate yet lively backdrop for your meal. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch spot, a weekend hangout with friends, or a charming date night destination, this restaurant exudes an approachable sophistication that keeps guests coming back.
Service here has been praised as attentive and warm, enhancing the overall experience, even if a few dishes sometimes don’t hit every mark perfectly. Portions tend to be generous, making it a great value for both hearty appetites and leisurely dining. While some cocktails lean toward the pricier side, the quality and unique flavor profiles justify the splurge.
In all, Culinary Dropout shines as a well-rounded American restaurant that balances creative cuisine, a fun atmosphere, and live entertainment. It’s a place where food lovers can savor bold tastes, unwind with a perfectly crafted drink, and soak up the lively Dallas vibe all under one roof.
Really loved this place, however, the deviled eggs were a bit on the salty side and our cheese for the pretzels was not hot so it kinda tasted just bland. On the other hand, hands down our favorite thing we ordered was the chicken katsu sandwich! Super juicy and tender and the bread is so crunchy delicious.
Ok! So now I’ve been twice! Fell in love with the rooftop area! It was the perfect setting for an afternoon lunch with my MomNLaw. The brunch/breakfast was extremely good! Now the true test came when I wanted to book a Tuesday night surprise birthday dinner for my Hubby. It ended up being 9 of us. From the first convo with Crystal regarding the reservation things were easy. I loved getting the txt reminders leading up to our event. I had my mom check everyone in and by the time we got there everyone was in place. The food is yall! The nachos definitely shareable! The fried chicken and biscuit IS MY now my fav Oh and the prices are affordable in my opinion and our whole table. We’ll definitely be back for sure! Thank you!
Casual spot for dinner with a balcony on the second floor. We went on a Friday night and there was live music, a female vocalist imwith a guitar accompanist. We ordered the prosciutto deviled eggs. They were good, but because the prosciutto was very fine it was hard to really taste. I was hoping the crispy prosciutto would've been larger. We then had the salmon with crispy brussel sprouts (skins?) on a bed of couscous I believe which was very good. We also had the Korean Ribeye Cap with onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. The waitress cautioned that it was very spicy but I thought it was fine. Very tasty and the veggies with it were great. The waitress was very nice and attentive, answering questions about the menu. Pricing seemed fair, and for the amount of food it balanced it out. Overall we enjoyed the drinks from the bar, food, service, and atmosphere, and with everything on the menu sounding good we want to come back and try more.
Service is incredibly awesome. The food was pretty good. I was surprised with the Pretzel cheese fondue. It was a good amount of pretzels and the cheese just go so good with it. Katsu sandwich was awesome I really like it! But the Mongolian short rib was a small portion. we were a little disappointed with that. The live music was so nice too! Overall it’s a good place for a date night.
Very nice atmosphere. The food was okay. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were thin, almost watery. Try the brussel sprouts, delicious. The portions are generous. The drinks were expensive, ranging from $14-16. Expect to spend $30-55 per meal. The service was great with all wait staff being friendly and attentive.
I celebrated my birthday here last weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. I made a reservation for a party of 8 beforehand and was immediately seated on arrival. Jeff was our server and I can honestly say he was the sweetest and most knowledgeable server I have ever had. We ordered everything he recommended from tasty drinks to fun appetizers. The food itself was excellent and we ordered a variety of foods, there is something on the menu everyone in your party will enjoy. The drinks were beautifully crafted and the vibes were immaculate. They even had live music towards the end of the evening.
We like to walk over on nice weather days for lunch as I really enjoy the freshness of their salad options, where my favorite is the Asian crunch. I’ve also enjoyed all of their short list of sushi options so this time I asked them if they could add the tuna as my protein on my favorite salad and was thankful that they did…perfect match and portion. I’m not so secretly hoping that they will make this a permanent option and offer all their sushi as protein options. The pretzel bites and Brussels are both admittedly decadent starters that are hard to resist when trying to be “good” during the lunch hour ;-) Service has always been attentive and friendly and appreciated…and one final note, was so happy that the ice tea was fresh and didn’t taste stale like so many other spots. Hope to make it back for drinks on the deck some time, and some music.
Service was great. We had the fried chicken and chicken cacio e pepe The fried chicken was really good. I appreciate that you can order all white or dark meat for the fried chicken, even though there was a $6 up charge for it that wasn’t mentioned. The biscuit was good and cakey. The mashed potatoes were ok. The cacio e pepe was good, but it was a bit dry and they broke the noodles. View from the upstairs bar/deck is grand and we will be back to sit up there for drinks.
